Dev Log 3 - Programmer UI...
もしもし, YoraphimDev here!
I'm aiming for a new update every 1-2 weeks depending on the scope of it, and how soon more feedback would be helpful.
So that brings us to this update! Which was focused on setting up the systems to allow the player to move through the world, and have events occur.
As I started to develop that system, something that jumped out was the amount of, lets say, programmer UI there was. It was always planned to be a placeholder, but that would be quite a while down the track. So I looked at a couple other games, Degree’s of Lewdity, Liliths Throne, Lust Doll, as well as a couple RPG marker games. And decided that a more minimalist take on the UI would go a long way.
And so, we have a new UI! I still want to get an actual UI designer to come in at some point and clean it all up, but I'm much happier with where it is.
That didn’t stop the other plans though, I’ve added in several areas to explore within the starting town of Zeph, and did a quick test on how to add in buildings etc. There’s some jobs you can do to earn money(that's also now a thing). As well as stats you have to try and manage. It's really not that deep right now, but like all things, with these systems in place, it's just the content that's missing.
With that, next I’m planning to look into having events being interruptable, this will be the primary way for bad events to occur. Say you’re sleeping on the streets, there will be a chance for someone to come give you a messy wakeup call. Especially if you accidentally push yourself to the point of passing out, you wont wake up, and they'll be free to do whatever to your body.
And with that in place, I want to look at pushing content into the systems. Looking at getting Layer 0 or the city, and Layer 1 to the point where you can have fun exploring it and develop your character.
Speaking of layers! I’ve decided on a route to go down for the best way to handle the curse's effect. Essentially you have 2 elements, resistance to the curse, and then curse accumulation.
The longer time you spend on a layer your resistance to the curse will develop, allowing the curse to affect you at a slower rate.
Now even though it might be slower, every time you travel upwards the curse will build up, and there's a point where it’ll cross the line. That's when a curse will hit you. Will it change you physically? Making you look less human. Or will it affect you mentally? Granting you different traits. If you have any ideas for what other curses there should be, let me know!
This can be offset by spending time at the same level, slowly decreasing that build up. That said, I have plans that will discourage wasting time.
Signing off!
