Dev Log 12 - NPC's

Overall changes
-New dialogue system (See the guild leader to see it in action)
-Hunger/Bladder implementation (Not eating will lead to health decreasing)
-New body modifications (Devil Horns, wolf ears)
-New relic allowing for body modification
-New important NPCs can be found in Guild and tavern
-Death resulting in a game over due to low health
-Initial start of quest/journal system
-Much larger area to explore on Layer 1
-Ability to buy camping supplies to sleep on Layer 1
-Drops from wolves can be cooked for a nice meal
Bug Fixes
-Fixed audio issue
-Fixed missing strings(Relics/Equipment)
-Fixed tags not being removed after a scene
-Fixed NPCs randomly printing text on winning
-Fixed temp art assets using the wrong sprite
Hotfix 1
-Added in a windowed and custom resolution mode. (Potential issues with the custom resolution)
Hotfix 2
-Added in additional places to eat and drink
-Fixed tooltips about bladder, previously it would mention being higher is worse, it is actually the opposite.
Patreon/Subscribestar!
So this game needs art! I would love for each area to have its own art, custom portraits for your favourite NPC’s, adding in more body types and shapes, tentacle arms, devil horns, angel wings. The list is pretty much endless.
At this point I’ve recently gotten in contact with an artist who will be doing new environmental art every 2-3 weeks. But only 25 areas getting art in a year is going to take a while.
In addition, with the new dialogue system, a real writer would be awesome.
I’ve already had some members of the community offer to help with art/writing, and although it really helps, it's not a solution, though I'm super excited to see their creativity. Hence, like the other 99% lewd games, the creation of a Patreon!, and I’m also in the process of a SubscribeStar if that's what you prefer. I’ve mentioned this previously, but this is all going to be going to Art/Writing. So progress of the actual game will stay the same, I'll still be adding in elements, but just more text based than visual.
Hunger/Bladder System
This is the first of many features I’ve wanted to add for a while, it adds a drive to the player actually doing things. Like everything else it is togglable, be it not to your liking, or simply not balanced in any aspect.
New Layer 1
So Layer 1 has pretty much been redone, before there were around 5 areas to explore, that's gone up to 25, with a much smoother traveling aspect to it. Most don’t have unique events, but now with them in place I can go through and do just that.
To help with this I’ve also added camping gear in the stores, to allow you to set up while you’re traveling.
New NPC’s and Dialogue
For fights, and basic events the current system works great, but I wouldn't say it lets people experience a told story. That's where the new important NPCs come in with a dialogue tree. For example the adventures guild leader inviting you to join, or the tavern keeper telling a story, little conversations with branching paths can now occur. NPCs also now have an opinion of you, with the future plans being conversations will open up based on how much they like you, or things you’ve done in the world.
What's next?
So a lot of you have reached out about playing on phones, so it's time to look at that! If you have any really bizzare phone resolutions let me know, otherwise I'll just try and hit the most common.
Using the new dialogue system, I want to also look into adding in a quest system. Technically it should already work, but I want a custom UI for the journal, and test it.
Finally with each update I want to just add in a bit more content, be it a new store. New dialogue options for an NPC, mini lore dump as you walk through the Runic Wildlands. Just add more substance to the game.
