Dev Log 2 - Electric Boogaloo

So what's been going on the past 2 weeks for The Unseen Depths? First off I got some good feedback about the character creator and what people would want in the game, thanks to all that made suggestions! 

To clarify some things about where the game is at. I got out the character creator to show it off to some artists as I'm in the process of getting rid of the place holder art and getting something that actually looks good! Side note, I have changed some of the backgrounds. I found some of them were AI art. At this point I haven’t decided where I stand with it as placeholders. In a similar vein, I have quite the collection of Made in Abyss art that I'm very tempted to use. If anyone has any strong feelings, let me know!

With that said the last 2 weeks have been focused on 4 key systems. Enhancing the character creator, localisation, future modding support/workflow, and saving/loading .

Character Creator
I wanted to take some of the feedback I got from the first build and added in traits. Originally I wanted these, or some form, but wasn’t sure how to implement it. In the end I’m taking 3 approaches. Some are only available at the beginning, some will be considered a curse, and some have triggers. The triggers could be things like, you having sex nonstop, leading to you gaining the Nympho perk naturally.  All of which come with pros and cons, and ways that they could be removed/modified.

Along with this I also modified the face sprite, added eyes in, stat system UI, and some minor tweaks.

Localisation
Due to the large planned amount of text already in the game, I’ve set up the localisation system. Right now we have English and Japanese. Anything that isn’t English will just be run through Google Translate, so results may vary.

Modding Support
Originally all of the selectable character features were hard coded. If I wanted to add in another set of hair, I would need to go in, and code it. It wouldn't take long, but means modding is not easy, and as having a workflow with unneeded steps. That's all fixed! To note, modding isn’t in, but my new work flow means adding in that support will be much easier.

Saving & Loading 
With the above changes, saving and loading needed some tweaking, but that's all sorted. You should now be able to save and load a character after designing it. What's next? So originally I was planning to focus on the battle arena, but instead I want to look at the world exploring the side of things. Although I think in scope the arena is way easier. I think this game's core is the interactions you have traveling through the world. And with that I can start to flesh out what events will fire, see the lewder side come out and play and how your character will evolve.
